Relaxing Massage

"It's not selfish to look after your health & happiness, it's necessary"

The Benefits of Sports Massage

As well as helping to rehabilitate injuries, or relieve general aches and pains, sports massage will help everyone from top athletes to regular gym goers. The physiological benefits include helping to increase blood circulation and the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles while also eliminating waste products which can build up in the soft tissues. By creating these physiological changes, this can help the recovery and repair process of an injury or any delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) as a result of training.

The techniques used can also help increase joint mobility and flexibility in the muscles through manipulation of the soft tissues surrounding a joint which may have become tight and restricted. This not only allows for better range of movement, but can help reduce the risk of developing any further injuries. The techniques used will also help to realign muscle fibres and can help breakdown scar tissue which may have formed from a previous injury.

Muscular imbalances can also develop from an injury or any postural deviations which can then lead to further problems and more pain if left untreated. It is very common in todays society where many of us spend hours each day sat at our computers and looking at our phones which unfortunately, can lead to postural issues and pain, particularly in the back and neck. This is just one example of how sport massage can even benefit those who lead very sedentary lifestyles as soft tissue dysfunctions and pain can develop through inactivity and poor posture.
